This year's book launch was apparently a rather hush-hush affair. The lower-levels of the Orange, if one may call it that, had no idea of the location of the book launch until 24 hours beforehand. What purpose that served, the Captain can only guess. Were the top echelon of the Orange fearful that the Pear and the Star would hire Ah Bengs and Ah Lians to come and smash up their exhibition? Or was it the case that Mr. Deep and Sexy Voice aka E.Kang and his henchmen failed to secure a suitable venue for the launch until the eleventh hour? I guess we'll never know...
Anyway, this year's book launch took an interesting detour from the usual party at some posh hotel in downtown Orchard. Instead it was held at a top-secret location in...Plaza Singapura! Also thrown out the window were the professional looking black jackets and white tops for ladies and white shirts and ties for men. In their place was the white polo T-shirt.
A beer advertisement placed strategically behind a booth that sells children's books. Why do I have a feeling that this brilliant idea came from Emperor Kangpatine himself...
