Wham Glam Thank You Ma'm

Masala glam: MS was snapped having lunch at Hak Kee Eating House with former Miss Universe, Aishwarya Rai

Stuck in the middle with you: trapped in no man's land, an everyday affair which Oranges have to face when crossing the busy roads to grab a bite on the other side of this dodgy town

Goodbye pandas: there they lay, side by side, discarded without even a meagre pondering, now they shall be forever faded by the sunlit glory, tossed and turned with the fatal winds, finding immortality amongst the vagaries of cinder and ash, returning to innocence inside the
tunnels of time...

Black to the future

Markorat spent his day off yesterday hanging out with the hot babes at Sentosa beach, in his signature fluoro green man thong.

Actually, that's nonsense.

Markorat spent his day off yesterday visiting former oranges at Blacktopia, and proceeded to enjoy a yummy lunch and hearty fellowship with them at Blu Jaz cafe.

A scenic scene: You would be forgiven for falsely thinking that this is a holiday resort somewhere in Dubai. It's actually the entrance of Blacktopia. What an oasis! Only the peeps clad in white collar attire give it away as a workplace.

Soaring ambition: Watching the DHL balloon go up up and away, from a shady spot in Blacktopia

ART-chitecture: What lovely Art Deco murals on the walls

Tower of strength: Blacktopia from the ground up, standing tall and mighty
under the midday sun - a citadel of shining corporate citizenship

The bold and the bronzed: Hey Winston Churchill, how's it going? Bronzed figures of historical men of greatness stand steadfast along the entrance area

On golden wings: A resplendent gold sculpture of a Japanese crane in full flight, much like the careers of the Blacktopians, perhaps

Food for thoughts: Markorat, RC, PJ, BH and MV tucking in at Blu Jaz cafe

Project Management

Not much of a project management course there. The trainer spoke more on figures, diagrams and stuff that made me feel like I was back in uni, attending one of those mind-numbingly boring mathematics lectures. I could not for the life of me find anything useful in the stuff that was taught, that might have practical applications for those in publishing.

Anyway on to the fun stuff. The Captain was supposed to lunch with Jam, RB and WM but then VKP hijacked the whole thing when she simply informed us "I'll join you guys for lunch". Needless to say the Captain did not really want to be stuck at the same table as VKP for one hour. There's something about certain elements of management that make the Captain....well, not want to lunch with them =p God forbid that the Captain ever becomes one of those "elements of management".

Fortunately, the saviour was none other than BBBB (Big Boss B*n B*o). He and his...friend, EO, were gonna have lunch together. So he asked me and WM to join them. Rather grateful, although also apprehensive at having to eat lunch with BB and his....friend EO, the Captain and WM ditched RB and Jam, and left them to the devices of VKP and her raunchy jokes. Call us evil, but desperate situations call for desperate measures.

So we had bak kut teh at a nearby coffeeshop. Well, BB, EO and WM did. The Captain doesn't eat pork (neither beef nor mutton for that matter), so he had a bowl of noodles instead.

All that was left of the cute wittle piggie from the book "Charlotte's Web"......barbarians!

Savouring every last morsel

He looks half-surprised, half-disappointed to discover that there's no more...

Are they holding hands?

Bennamy and RB Shevchenko, presenting....something. Clearly, what was taught at this course has completely slipped from the Captain's mind!

His seemingly "ouch" reaction might be due to the fact that she was squeezing his....something.

"Power" lunch

We decided to go for lunch at some coffeeshop near Kovan Centre, cuz BB and his girls wanted to eat "Power Mee Rebus", which was basically normal mee rebus but with satay sauce and roasted chicken. Also, they wanted to get some cakes from Emicakes.

MV, MS and BH were given a bumpy ride (as RC called it) by RC to the coffeeshop. BB, Yuli, JSL and CK got into one cab whilst ML, NT and GK got into another.

The power mee rebus looked really good. It was almost overflowing with delicious gravy, and the roasted chicken pieces looked succulent and juicy. Too bad I didn't take a photo of it...

I did take a photo of my own lunch though - roasted chicken rice

And ML's - roasted duck rice with fatty pork pieces

Not forgetting RC's as well - braised duck rice

JSL practices the fine art of blind sms-ing. CK looks good with a straw don't she?

Now CK tries to act cute by tilting her head. Don't strain yourself CK!

Only CK manages to strike a good pose. ML and JSL try the "I'm so cool staring into space look", while NT does his "old man peering at you over thick spectacles" act

JSL looks like she's meditating

Oooh...finally, good poses from everyone and I forget to turn up the backlighting. Shucks

The other table

The gals stare at each other...

MS and Yuli are key witnesses to a disturbing physical assault...are you watching closely? Read on!

MV is all intense as she describes the finer details of....clawing?

NT, however, does not seem to be listening...and has a glazed look in his eyes

OMG! Poor MV is once again the victim of an outrage of modesty!! This time the culprit is NT...he doesn't have his hand dangling suggestively in front of MV's blouse, unlike what KO did. But he is about to bite her neck. YOU decide which is worse =|

Sakura Nan...cough cough! (damn spicy siah)

Everybody loves a good sequel. Especially if it involves makan. So today the Primary Science team enjoyed a company lunch again, this time with the good folks of Pre-Press. Sakura Nana Thai restaurant in Eunos, was the venue of thanks-giving for the recent fortuitous submission to the 'Gahmen' Education peeps. [Xxxtra knowledge: Sakura Nana also happens to be the name (not sure if real) of a rather famous Japanese adult AV star too]. Don't ask me how I know.

So spicy was the food, particularly and rather obviously - the tom yum soup (Shioh Shioh!, Hokkien for 'Hot Hot!'), that our salivary and sweat glands started working overtime and many a Orange drank the lime juice, like it was going out of fashion. But the tom yum turned out to be the only thing Thai about the menu. They didn't even have a dessert as synonymous with Thai food like red ruby sago, which we requested, to quell the hot fires emanating from our palates after all that fish head curry, sambal kangkong, claypot curry prawns... I think that all of us who ate can become chilli farmers after today, or even audition for next season's Singapore Idol, as the Spice girls/guys/girlguy. Heheh...

The bill for our two tables amounted to a whopping $340 dollars. But since the Orange is paying for it, what the heck anyway? So hooray for free lunches. No such thing. Remember the fairytale of Hansel and Gretel?

GK:" Oh dear God, it's so spicy, I should have brought more tissue paper."

Hola! - ultra comfort high quality towel with a balanced facial lotion which is safe and gentle for your skin. Served for your comfort whenever you like to freshen up or clean your hands, or other body parts.

MANUFACTURED IN SINGAPORE for the E.U.

What a spread!... of mostly non Thai food. Makan-able nonetheless. :D

AAR: "Wahhh, the fish eyeball from the curry fish head was the best, man!"
Notice the shock, quell horreur expression on
RC's face. Reminds me of a line from the movie, The Corrupter. There's this one scene where Chow Yun Fatt says to Mark Wahlberg, as he's slurping up his pig intestines noodles, "You wanna be Asian, yah gotta eat the nasty stuff." Haha, one man's delicacy is another's barf stuff.

Ah, what a happy family! :)

Pri Sci team went to Hongkong

And what a trip it was. Originally requested to go to Shangri-La Hotel for a lunch buffet, but the dear bosses of MC, in all their infinite wisdom and unmatched intelligence, decided that it was not enough and decided to pack us all into two taxis and go to Kovan MRT (yeah, yeah) and feast at Hongkong Cafe instead

Yes, that was my stab at sarcasm. Did you not get it? ;-)

Iced lychee tea (or was it Lychee iced tea?)

WM makes sure everyone gets a dollop of Hongkong chilli sauce

Some dim sum before the main course

Boiled (I think) vegetables buried under a mountain of fine shaved ice, to be dipped into a bowl of wasabi + soya sauce before putting in one's mouth.

My own main course...black pepper chicken with fried rice and vegetables, I think.

They look rather compatible to me, don't they?

RC says to WM "Are you gonna be able to finish that?!"
