Orange Idol

Do you remember that fantastic Bollywood Bangra farewell dance item that we all performed for MN as part of the MPSDG project? Alas, it all turned out to be pomp and pageantry that was watered down into sound and fury ... she packed up and left anyway ... and now she's back ... but in Black that is.

Well, just for auld lang syne, here are the behind-the-scenes snaps of the ideas brainstorming stage, over many cups of hot chocolate, Milo (BB's fav beverage) and coffee schmoffee ...

Hey, Paula MV Abdul, u must be having so much fun looking at
all these (un)talented oranges trying to dance with their two left feet

"Okay, let's take it from the top again, but this time, with MORE feeling please!
How do you expect the audience to vote for you if you just mumble the lyrics?"

"Uh! I tell you ah Stefanie ES Sun, these bumbling wanna be entertainers are driving me up the wall! I need an Aspirin like right NOW!
NT
! NT!, go get me some Aspirin NOW!
Haiyah, its so hard to find a good male secretary these days. That NT sometimes really himbo siah! But okay lah, he keeps in good shape, so give chance a bit ..."

"Yes lady boss! Coming chop chop. Dun mind can I finish my kopi first prrease?"

CK, the dead ringer for talented Hong Kong singer/actress Kelly Chan, took time off from her busy schedule of travelling to drop in and lend some of her vocal expertise to the auditions. She later flew off to Paris to shoot a Chanel ad.

BB King didn't play no blues on his electric guitar, rather, he did what he always does best -
Being BB

Save the last dance

"1,2,3,4 come on baby let's do that Conga!"

OR

"When a hero comes along, with the strength to carry on ..."

In other words, when you think of MV, does she remind you of Gloria Estefan or Mariah Carey?

Who it is, doesn't matter, cos she's the Queen of Bollywood. And she's earned every right to that royal title - especially since she was the brilliant choreographer behind MN's farewell dance, last year.

It's also been almost two months since MV packed up her dancing shoes and took her fancy footwork and sexy sashaying to a black ballroom.

What gives with black all of a sudden? Is it in vogue again? Is black the 'New Black' once more?

Goodbye MV, will you please save a dance for me?

I have run the good RAYce

It's been almost two months since RC left the Orange for blacker pastures. I'd been holding out on posting his farewell, hoping that he'd come back ... but of course just like you never get back together with your ex girlfriend/boyfriend, so too, must one move on with one's life and not u-turn in fear or regret. Fortune favours the bold.

RC, You've been an integral member of the 6pack, and we wish you the very best in life. So till we next meet at a pub somewhere ... here are the glorious memories of that fine day when 3 of your top 5 gals donned football jerseys and showered you with Tottenham Hotspurs memorabilia, your favourite EPL football club.

A fitting farewell for a top class striker like Dimitar Berbatov, now if only he'll join Manchester United now ...

What a day to remember! Top 5 forever.

Baby got back

The ever effervescent cherubic belle cum designer, hailing from Bandung, Indonesia, JSL 'baby', who once acted in one of my movies with my regular leading man, NT, turned 23 last week. And to think that I once thought that she was just all of only sweet 16 ...

That's my boy, NT, when there's a cake or a pie to be had, our main man is always
all hands and fingers on deck :D

BB strikes his perennial pose - The "Kawaii!"

For some strange reason, I can only upload this pic from this angle. Oh well, this is how the world looks like when one is inebriated anyway, FYI.

JSL 'baby' is pleasantly surprised to find a birthday party waiting for her at the canteen upstairs

Don't be shy, show us your lovely smile now

JSL 'baby' dishes out her sweet stuff, ala durian cake

... To the famished mob

BB can be quite a pig sometimes, he wants to have his cake and eat it too. Can you dig the depth of that sentence? I think he felt that the cake lacked some cherry topping ...

Even princess Y seems to be fed up with BB.
BB, we'll have your birthday at Mcdonald's this year, OK?

Cut n paste action figure

All things great in life have sequels and special editions - Hollywood blockbusters, director's cut edition of classic movies, never before released songs from musicians, Ipods, Playstations, Motorola RED handphones etc..

So I figured, why should paparazzing be any different?

In preparation for my imminent departure from the Orange, I have been doing a housekeeping of my massive archive of 'razzing and have decided to release, over the coming weeks, exclusive snapshots and videos that have never been released to the general Orange viewing audience.
The penultimate post and coup de grace from moi will of course be a dedication and celebration of my number 1 lady from my top 5 list.

So, to kick off this campaign of nostalgia and reminiscence, I present CTZ. These photo concepts will, in some form, present him as who he really is - a larger than life cut out action figure. The CTZ cut out concept was done on 15 Feb this year, when CTZ was not in Orange, cos he was nursing a massive hangover from one of his usual massive drinking weekends.

Everyone and anyone who had some connection with him, work wise that is, was coming up to me, asking where the devil was CTZ. By lunchtime, I had grown tired of playing secretary, so I decided to place cut outs of CTZ around the Orange.

Many an orange had a blast laughing their knickers off, well almost.

Good on you CTZ, you were truly quite a personality!

iHEART

If we humans left everything to Mother Nature's trusted and wise devices, we will begin to slowly understand that the universe has its own way of working things out, or 'there is a season for every reason', so to speak. 'Go with the flow', 'let the chips fall where they may', some enlightened souls do embrace as their mantra for blissful daily living.

But enough of delusions and escapisms for now, instead, please allow me to share with you Oranges a serendipitous scene that transpired at work just now, at 10.30pm, 1st floor of Orange building, by the laser copier -

An "origami" heart that had naturally taken shape by itself on the carpet by the laser copier, which were probably the straggling remnants of someone's love letter that had been shredded to oblivion by the unappreciative recipient of it ... Nah, surely its origins had more lighthearted and jovial leanings, rather than something so gloomy as tragic love.

Such a phenomenon of simplistic yet profound proportions. Why profound you say? How often is it that you see a heart on the carpet like that? I've seen many an Orange wear their heart on their sleeve, but that's a different story.

I mean, you could stare at the clouds all day, for example, and just let your imagination run wild with conjuring up a whole phantasmagoria of shapes, objects, people, and fantasies. But this ...this heart on the carpet, this iconic and world renowned symbol of affection and desire, formed and fused by the very hands of chance and fate, is a sign from the Gods that we should always follow our heart. For want of a better word, transfixed sums up the emotion perfectly in this instance.

Make no mistakes, there were no Hollywood special effects or high tech CGI photoshopping involved here. What you see is what we (Captain Haddock and I) saw. We couldn't believe it at first, but then it dawned on us that life is constantly filled with these sentiently surrealistic snippets. The onus is always on us to, like the tag line for that movie "American Beauty" says,
'Look closer'.

To pulp or not to pulp, that is the question.
Nevertheless, we Oranges can take comfort in the fact that even though nothing lasts forever and all good things must come to an end, we will always have memories to get on by.

...until we become senile.

The animal instinct

What better way to end the month of May, than by taking a trip to the zoo?

Have a beary nice day

Tripping the sunlight fantastic

Filled with amazement and WONder

The real Bambi

Splendour amongst the greens

Two's company

The awesome foursome - BB is the one scratching his d**k

Big bird with resplendent plumage, GK that is

Beautiful Bengal white tigers, an endangered species - just like the GFPT
(requires loving conservation and care)

The Maharani of Mandai - Y, takes a casual stroll through her kingdom

An episode from LOST?

Life is a butterfly, fluttering away

My trunk runneth over

Follow the yellow brick road
