Twilight time

Glimpses of the evening sky, in such dramatic and breathtaking shades ... even if viewed from the confines of the Orange. Standing there by the window, soaking in the visual splendour is a blessing from Heaven, just like listening to the sweet girlish laughter of one's favourite Top 5 gal, some cubicles away. Sigh ... so close, yet so far away.

The beautiful sunset, I meant.

To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.

Wembley calling

The dream is alive: the boys at Wembley Stadium, England

O.R.D. loh!

For those of you who didn't have the pleasure of giving up two and a half years of your life to do National Service, and who therefore aren't acquainted with O.R.D., let me explain ...

O.R.D. stands for Official Run out of Date - it's when a soldier has come to the end of his military service or NS, and is free to become a civilian again i.e. return to the REAL world.

Last Friday, the long serving Captain Haddock ORD'd from Orange Armed Forces. He's now enjoying some well deserved R & R - soaking up the sunshine on a white sandy beach in Bintan, enjoying a rejuvenating Javanese massage and delicious cocktails, all with the pleasurable company of his MAY lady, to whisper sweet nothings in his auditory canal.

Captain Haddock has been an excellent soldier who, in his one and a half year tour of duty, has become a hard-boiled veteran of many an ardous and toilsome editorial campaign into the harsh and wicked jungles of VieILtnam. Weaker soldiers and mere mortals would not have been able to persevere and endure the enormous mental, physical and emotional strain that the VieILtnam War would have placed on them. But Captain Haddock was no ordinary soldier, oh no, some say he even had the strength of 5 lions and a cannon that was ... never mind.

Captain Haddock also ORD's with distinction and honour - 2 purple hearts for injuries sustained in battle, and a cross of bravery, for courage shown in the line of fire.

We salute you, Captain!

The troops listening to the captain's farewell address

Orange Armed Forces, 1st Editorial Division, New Industrial Road Camp

With General II, a 4 star general, mind you

With Private SW, who is still blur like sotong, as all privates should be

With CK, the MDC 's (music and drama company) star singer and host. FYI, MDC is the "morale boosting" arm of Orange Armed Forces, it's purpose is specifically for that, boosting the morale of the troops when they go into battle

With AL, the captain's private secretary

With the captain's football mates, all hailing from different editorial sections. Some more campy than others, but all elite subject specialists in their own minds

With the irrepressible Colonel BB

The Primary Science squad -
Sergeant ML, NUOAFs (Non uniformed Orange Armed Forces personnel): WM, JK, LL and UN, Captain Haddock

Friday Faze - June Edition

NT's proposed email invitation for Friday Faze. I love its sarcasm and black humour. Pity that a friendlier version was sent out eventually ...

Dear survivalists,

Once again, it's time for Friday Faze. There'll be food, fun and prizes!

This week, we're giving away 6 Cathay movie vouchers, redeemable at any Cathay cinemas. And all you need to do is to participate with the same lemming-like enthusiasm you pour into your projects. If not for the tickets, at least come for the food, because there'll be plenty of that to go around.

All you need to do is form cliques of 6 or less. The winning clique will win the tickets. The rest of you losers can go smother your defeat with egg tarts and nonya kuehs.

And don't forget, this overwhelming show of generosity would not be possible without your management! Because they really care! Really!

Regards,
The FFs

Ciao! Mon ami ...

Revenge is sweet, as they say, and Cleanlungpool certainly got their sweet treats yesterday when they trounced Smokers United 3 - 0.

It was a testimonial match for GK Neville, who is leaving Man U and the EPL to play for AC Milan in Serie A later next week. The man of the moment certainly fashioned his farewell in grand style, opening up the scoring for Cleanlungpool with a lovely smash and grab in front of the Smoker's goalmouth by latching onto a poorly cleared ball and unleashed his trademark "Cannon" right footed shot straight into goal!

AndriRB Shevchenko ended his successful loan period with Smokers United and promptly decided to teach the Smokers all the lessons he had learnt well from them - Dribbling from deep within Cleanlungpool's half, the striker made a mercurial run down the left flank, bypassing three Smokers with his demonic speed and lighting pace, before finally sliding the ball dramatically into the bottom corner of the Smoker's goal!

SteBB Gerrard, their ever charismatic captain, rallied his players cohesively to frustrate the Smokers time and time again. Smokers United had been playing beautiful football throughout the game - one touch passes, neat triangles, samba style silky dribbling - ala Arsenal style, but they just could not find the back of the net ... Oh well, all the top teams have their off form days too, I guess.

Anyway, back to SteBB G., who managed to get himself on the scoreboard too, late in the second half to seal victory for Cleanlungpool. Enjoy the victory Cleanlungpool ... while u can muahahah!

All the best to GK Neville too! Forza Italia!

Man of the match -
Edw*n "Edgar Davids", for his excellent dribbling and tireless running to create chances and assists for Cleanlungpool. He was a true playmaker and it's a shame that he didn't get a goal for himself.

Play of the day -
Isl*ni Sundramoorthy, for his American football style kick at 110km/h, that sent the ball rocketing onto the window of the house behind Smoker's United goalmouth.
He's the Duke of Hazard!

Post match at the footballers' regular watering hole -

Succincte to Extinct

The comet has finally crashed into planet Orange, sending it into a chilling morbidity, with only a few hardy organisms still remaining to survive in the harsh climate of freezing subzero temperatures and a crushing perennial darkness, devoid of the radiance of beautiful ladies.

Yes, it's sadly true, the male editor species is soon to be very dead and very extinct from the Orange ecosystem. All will be wiped out and fossilized, only to be later on unearthed many light years away, by some Lara Croft-like Tomb Raider ...

All male editors will perish, all except this resilient and resourceful dinosaur (in more ways than one) of an editor, who will live long and prosper ... to become ... Lord of the Jungle. Here it is ... the B-Rex.

Lunch Lizard: The B-Rex is a naturally designed lean mean editing machine, with no known predators. It also has a thick hide(skin) that can withstand cold shoulders and icy stares. It flicks out its tongue to scan its surroundings and to pick up the scent of honeyz, its favourite diet. The B-Rex is a solitary dinosaur that only hooks up to mate with another B-Rex, and is very territorial.

The only other fierce creature that could pose a serious threat to B-Rex's life and limb, is the gigantic ape from Sabah ...
